Have you completed the Waterways Adventure Labs yet? If not, now is the time to do so!

Seven Adventure Labs that each feature 10 locations were released in 2022 to help people explore Michigan's waterways and maritime heritage. Pathtags and a geocoin can be earned by completing and recording code words from the Adventure Lab stages.

This summer, participate in a separate challenge by completing or finding caches close to Waterways Adventure Lab stages.
 Complete the results form and submit it no later than October 15, 2026 (11:59 PM). Project-GC will be used to determine the winner of the challenge. NO ENTRY FORM IS REQUIRED.

Players are expected to understand and play by the Common Contest Rules as well as the MiGO Code of Fair Play.

A maximum of one entry is allowed for each geocaching account.

All dates and times are in Eastern Standard Time (UTC−05:00) or Eastern Daylight Time (UTC−04:00), whichever is in effect

  1. Finds:
    1. Find caches located within half a mile of a Waterways Adventure Lab stage.
    2. Finds must be made between May 15, 2026, and September 30, 2026.
  2. Adventure Labs:  
    1. Complete stages of the Waterways Adventure Labs.
    2. Adventure Lab stages must be completed between May 15, 2026, and September 30, 2026.
  3. Eligible Caches:  
    1. Any cache with a GC code is eligible.
    2. Any Waterways Adventure Lab stage is eligible.
  4. If a cache is located within half a mile of multiple Waterways Adventure Lab stages, only one of the stages will count.
  1. Points:
    1. Each qualifying find will be awarded 5 points.
    2. Completing any Waterways Adventure Lab stage will earn 10 points.
    3. Completing each Adventure Lab stage in a region (UP, NL, SW, or SE) and submitting for the corresponding pathtag will earn a bonus of 20 points.
    4. Completing each Adventure Lab stage in all four regions and submitting for the corresponding geocoin will earn a bonus of 50 points.
    5. Lake Superior members will have their points doubled (not included in the checker; will be calculated later).
  2. Winners:
    1. Three winners will be chosen by a random drawing of entrants. The more points you have, the greater your chances of winning.
  3. Prizes:
    1. Lake Superior and Lake Huron members are playing for a collectible geocoin.
    2. Lake St. Clair and Trial members are playing for a membership upgrade coupon.
    3. Membership is measured at the end of the challenge. Anyone who upgrades their membership during the challenge period will be competing at the upgraded level.
    4. The challenge managers reserve the right to offer additional prizes, depending on the number of entrants.
