1st prize for most points. 2nd prize via a random drawing. The longer the cache has gone unfound, the more valuable it is (see below).

 

  • This contest is open to all geocachers but you must be a MiGO member to win. Membership - Join MiGO
  • Contest runs from March 11 to April 28, 2024. Only finds between those dates count. Deadline for submissions is May 5, 2024.
  • Results will be tallied on May 6th, giving players a little time to get caches logged and giving Project-GC time to get the finds updated.

Checker:  MiGO Lonely Cache Checker - Use this checker to track your progress. Log your caches as you make finds but you don't need to submit until the contest ends.

Submissions: Submit Here Don’t forget to include the details on the short form. Wait until the end of the challenge to submit but remember the deadline for submissions is May 5, 2024.

Specific Rules for the MiGO Lonely Cache Challenge:  

 

  1. Prize Eligibility: Any and all MiGO members can win. This includes the BOD, EC, RVPs,  and members of the Challenge Committee.

 

Scoring:

Scoring: Results posted on the MiGO website and announced on the MiGO Facebook Group.  Points will be awarded for those finds based on the following:

  1. Accumulate Points for finds: Lonelier caches get more points. 1 point for each 6 month/180 day period the cache has gone unfound. It’s NEVER been found? Goes by the published date. 
  2. If multiple cachers find and log a lonely cache on the same date, they all get the points for the find.
  3. Points translate directly into Drawing Chances. Lake Superior members get their drawing chances doubled. Member levels applied at contest close. Membership - Join MiGO

 

Prizes:

Prizes are dependent on member level.

 

  1. Lake Huron and Lake Superior members: The 1st place points winner will win first choice of one of two vintage Geocoins from the Geocoin of the Month Club.  The drawing winner receives the remaining coin. Here are the coins you’re playing for:

Playing for a $5 discount coupon towards a Lake Huron or a $15 discount coupon on a Lake Superior membership.

A question has been asked whether this is allowed: "Hadn't been found in almost 4 years so I dropped a new container in something hollow"


The answer is no. This is not a find. It is a throw down. The code of Fair Play plainly states: All caches found are expected to be found by the cacher claiming the find.
